Von ernährungsphysiologischer Seite ist es auch tatsächlich möglich, einen Hund gesund vegan zu füttern, solange das Futter ausgewogen ist. Nur Katzen rein vegan zu ernähren ist nicht möglich, ohne größere Gesundheitsprobleme zu bekommen.

Ich kommentiere nie-wirklich NIE-irgendeinen Post, aber dazu muss ich jetzt einfach meinen Senf abgeben. Könnte ich meine Meinung so gut vom Hirn in die Tastatur weiterleiten wie du, dann wäre das genau mein Text gewesen ?
Als Ex-Barferin, die selbst seit über 20 Jahren kein Fleisch isst, hats bei mir irgendwann einen Schalter umgelegt (wieso 80% Fleisch in die Hunde stopfen, wofür unfassbar viel „Nutzvieh“ sein Leben lassen muss, wenn das gar nicht notwendig ist???). Jetzt sind wir Naftie-Kunden und es gibt max. 40% Fleischanteil – selbstverständlich Bio – der Rest besteht aus Gemüse, Hirseflocken, Reisflocken, Obst oder auch mal vegetarischen Dosen. Und ob es die Barf-Fraktion glaubt oder auch nicht: Wir (also die Hunde) inhalieren es und wir (die Hunde) müssen den Napf gefühlte 2 Stunden sauber machen – dieses Phänomen hatten wir bei hohem Fleischanteil nie! Ja auch ich bin Tierquälerin, aber uns (den Hunden) schmeckts! Wir quälen dafür weniger Schafe, Ziegen, Puten etc (Kühe, Hühner und Lachse quälen wir nie, denn auf die sind wir (ein Hund) allergisch)!
Und das unfassbare an dieser Vorgehensweise: wir (die Hunde) erfreuen uns bester Gesundheit ?

Ich habe bei Paula die Fleischrationen auch gekürzt und strecke es mit Gemüse, Dinkelvollkornnudeln, Kartoffel, Hüttenkäse usw. Hauptsächlich aus dem einen Grund um weniger Proteine zu füttern, da Paula hyperaktiv ist. Mir wurde geraten, weniger Proteine zu geben. Ich sollte auch mal das Insektenfutter Veggie ausprobieren. Das hab ich aber bisher noch nicht da es nur große Säcke gibt. Ich würde das dann eher als Leckerlie zwischendurch geben.
Wir hatten schon mal das Gemüse Veggie, weil es das bei dm als Probiertütchen gab. Etwas größere, sehr knusprige Kroketten. Panini mochte sie sehr. Vielleicht gibt es bei euch im dm ja auch die kleinen Tütchen zum Testen? Als „Wolfsexpertin“ werde ich regelmäßig nach meiner Meinung zur Hundeernährung gefragt und ernte blankes Entsetzen, wenn ich sage, dass ich meine Hündin nicht barfe. Aber fressen nicht Wölfe nur Fleisch?
Nein! Ich beobachte wild lebende Wölfe seit 30 Jahren und schaue ihnen fast täglich auf den Teller. Da liegt zwar überwiegend Fleisch, aber oft auch mal was ganz anderes: z.B. Aas, Fisch, Gemüse und Obst. Sehr beliebt ist Fisch. Manche Wölfe fangen selbst Lachse und fressen davon nur die Köpfe. Andere lieben Kürbisse und bringen die spanischen Bauern zur Verzweiflung, wenn sie bei der Kürbisernte fast jeden Kürbis anbeißen. Wölfe sind längst zu „selektiven fleischfressenden Allesfressern“ geworden.
Wollte man einen Hund tatsächlich „artgerecht“ ernähren, müsste man ihn ein paar Tage hungern lassen und ihm dann ein lebendiges Kaninchen vorwerfen.
Von der Sache mit dem Kaninchen sehe ich dann doch lieber ab. ? Ich bin froh, dass Panini noch keine rohen Kürbisse probiert hat, sie wäre bestimmt interessiert. Den ganzen Winter hindurch mampfte sie Rübenreste auf dem Feld. Vermutlich, um die lange Zeit bis zur nächsten Apfelernte etwas zu verkürzen. Gut zu hören, dass sie damit ihren Vorfahren durchaus nahe ist!
Ich kann diese ganzen Diskussionen nicht verstehen und bin heilfroh, dass ich für die leider kranke Socke kochen muss. Es gibt hier einen Ernährungsplan und Nährstoffe der LMU München … Ich muss mich dem ganzen Kram nicht widmen.
Tamme Hanken vertrat auch die Auffassung, dass ein Fastentag gut sei, aber für bedeutet Fasten wirklich Fasten. ich selber lebe seit September 2016 nach dem Prinzip des Intermittierenden Fasten und esse nur alle zwei Tage, sieben Mahlzeiten in der Woche und ich weiß, wie gut das tut….

…nach fast 4-jähriger Suche nach dem richtigen Futter für meinen fast 10-jährigen Hund, empfahl mir meineTierärztin endlich zu hypoallergenem Futter in Trocken und in Nass aus der Dose. Und siehe da, Fee hat keinen Durchfall mehr.
Sie mag aber auch gerne Kartoffeln, Äpfel samt Schale, Reis, gekochtes Huhn, Dentastix. Hüttenkäse muss ich noch probieren nach dem Ausschlussverfahren, was sie denn nun alles noch verträgt. Leider kann ich ethische Gründe nicht berücksichtigen, ich will nur noch füttern, was sie verträgt. Es ist mir egal, ob das Fleisch, vegan oder sonst was ist.
Den Fastentag möchte ich auch einführen, ist aber sehr schwierig, weil ich da nicht konsequent genug bin. Aber wenns hilft!

Vegane Ernährung des Hundes und Barfen sind für mich zwei verschiedene Seiten derselben Medaille, die da heißt „Hundefütterung in der Wohlstandsgesellschaft“. Ich habe weder einen Wolf noch ein Kaninchen zuhause.
Der Hund kann nicht für dumme Nüsse im Gegensatz zum Wolf Stärke verstoffwechseln, wurde über Jahrhunderte von Küchenabfällen, Brot und Molke ernährt und konnte sich nebenher auf der Kräuter und Mäusewiese austoben.
„Gelegentliche“ vegane Fütterung ist übrigens gleich KEINE vegane Fütterung.
Reine vegane Fütterung fällt für mich unter die Rubrik „Tierversuche“…der Hund kann sich ja schließlich nicht beschweren, frisst, wenn man es ihm nicht anders beigebracht hat so ziemlich alles, was man ihm vorsetzt, ob gesund oder nicht.
Langzeitstundien zu dem Thema fehlen bisher.
Vegane Ernährung ist für mich keine Ernährung, sondern ein aus Überzeuguzng gesetztes Statement eines Menschen in einer Überflussgesellschaft und auch nur da ist vegane Ernährung ohne Mangelerscheinung möglich.
Seinen Vierbeiner sollte Mensch bei seinen Selbstdarstellungsbemühungen doch bitte aussen vor lassen.
Da die Haltung von 80% der in unserer Gesellschaft lebenden Hunde ohnehin kaum artgerecht ist (darunter fallen für mich fehlernährte Hunde genauso wie Balljunkies, Hunde die fehlende menschliche Sozialkontakte ersetzen sollen oder in emotional instabilen Familienverhältnissen leben müssen usw.), ist das Thema „Ernährung“ nur ein Punkt von vielen, der von ebenso vielen viel zu hoch gehängt wird.
Meine Hunde sabbern mir die Hütte voll, wenn sie mich in der Küche Möhren, Gurken, Äpfel schneiden hören, bekommen ansonsten ein gutes Trockenfutter und was ansonsten in der Küche abfällt.
Für einen Teil Ihres Futters müssen sie arbeiten, Leckerchen, Hundekekse etc. kennen sie nicht und ansonsten gibt es hier ein harmonisches soziales Miteinander mit großen Ruheanteilen als Hauptbeschäftigung
Fastentage bei uns nur vor, wenn tatsächlich mal ein Furz quersitzt. Dann wird der Verdauungsapparat über ein, zwei Tage auf Nullgefahren und dann langsam wieder belastet.
Wenn Futter für den Hund eine Selbstverständlichkeit ist und nicht als übermäßig wichtig konditioniert wurde, hat kein gut ernährter Hund ein Problem mit einem Fastentag.
Zwei meiner Musketiere kamen mit Dünnpfiff, „Nahrungsmittelunverträglichkeit“, hypoallergenem Futter und diversen Medikamenten. Die Sache war jeweils nach einer Woche ausgestanden, denn beide litten nur unter dem, worunter die meisten Wohlstandshunde heutzutage leiden:
Stress, der meist aus mangelndner, übermäßiger oder falscher Beschäftigung, emotionaler Überlastung und daraus, dass Mensch die Überdrehtheit seines Hundes mit Freude verwechselt, resultiert.

Toleranz ist hier ein Fremdwort. Leider.
Im Übrigen würde ich generell kein ganzes rohes Ei füttern. Entweder gekocht oder Eigelb und Eiklar müssen strikt getrennt werden. Das hat folgenden Grund: Das Eiklar enthält Avidin, ein Stoff, der das Biothin im Eigelb zerstört. Das wäre doch schade!

das Thema Avidin kenne ich natürlich und der Hund bekommt in der Regel nur das Eigelb, sofern das Ei roh ist. Sollte aber mal ein ganzes Ei im Napf landen, bin ich aber auch entspannt, da der Hund genug Biotin bekommt. So empfiehlt es auch Susanne Reinerth in ihrem Buch Natural Dog Food, das auch für Nicht-Barfer sehr lehrreich ist.

Allerdings, und das ist für mich der Unterschied, habe ich nie nicht die angemessenen Fleischmengen gegeben. Die Maus hat alles, was ich gegessen habe, ungewürzt bekommen ( ihr Gemüse / Obst wurde püriert, im Frühjahr /Sommer gesammelte Wildkräuter hinzugefügt, Hirse oder Nudeln, oder oder… und dann 1/4 des Anteiles rohes Fleisch. Und nein, sie war bis zum Schluß TATSÄCHLICH! nie krank. Und ein schlanker Labby ist ja eher selten, noch seltener aber ein 17 jähriger Labby. Oder? (Wie ich diese Süße vermisse….)
Mein aktueller Frechdachs ist n sehr großer Kerl, den ich mit div. Diagnosen gerettet habe. TroFu gewohnt, Übergewicht, Gelenkprobleme… 3 Jahre ist er nun bei mir und zack, 6 kg runter, Gelenkprobleme adieu, viel Sport, viel sozialer Kontakt und Spiele, viel Ruhe und dasselbe Ernährungskonzept, wie bei meiner kleenen Labbymaus,
nur mit doppelter Menge (außer Fleisch! da gibts nur 100g mehr), da groooßer Hund. Ich hatte zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt beschlossen, nicht mehr zu diskutieren, weder über meine vegane Ernährung, noch über der Hunde Barf. Ich mache die Mischung, die ich mit meinem Hintergrundwissen, Erfahrungswerten, und Überprüfungen beim TA für richtig erachte. Der sehr große Mischling ist 9 J. und topfit. Was ich nie mache: ich kaufe nie Schleckis, da Zucker / Salz etc. enthalten. Die besten Knabbercookies sind simpel, einfach und günstig selber herzustellen:
nimm 3 gr. oder 5 kl. sehr reife! Bananen, mische diese mit 300-400g zarten Haferfocken, und knete einen Teig daraus. Mehr Zutaten sind nicht nötig! Dann je nach Hundegröße angemessene dicke Rollen (wie Zigarren etc.) rollen und auf dem Blech liegend etwas platt drücken. Für meinen sollen sie nicht zu dünn sein, denn er soll ordentlich was zu knabbern haben. Das gut gefüllte Blech bei nur 160° solange ausbacken, bis die Kekse total trocken „krachen“. Zahngesund, sättigend, knusperfreudig. wat wolln de Wauzis mehr? Und oh Graus, auch noch v e g a n !!! ;-))
VG Sol mit dem großen Racker ?
Man macht es immer falsch wie man es macht und irgendjemand weiß es immer besser… das gilt halt auch fürs Füttern. Wobei ich die *rein* vegane Ernährung von Hunden auch für ausgemachten Blödsinn und gefährlich halte. Unsere Tiere bekommen alle ordentliches Futter mit Gemüse-Anteil und wo es geht Bio. Seit wir den Tierschutz-Hund mit Leishmaniose haben, also purin- ergo fleischarm füttern müssen, frisst plötzlich auch der mäkelige Ersthund mehr Gemüse und es schadet ihm sicher nicht. Der Mix macht es, denke ich. Und für jeden Hund das, was er verträgt und gerne isst. Das Patent-Rezept gibt es meines Erachtens nicht.
PS: Ich gehöre zu den Leuten die geschundene Hunde posten, weil ihnen der Algorithmus von Facebook so allgemein mehr Sichtbarkeit verschafft – dass meine „Freunde“ mich längst gemutet haben, ist mir durchaus bewusst ?
Natürlich fressen Hunde auch vegan. Und nichts gegen gelegentliche vegetarische Tage. Aber ihr Darm und Verdauungssystem sind auf Fleisch eingerichtet. Übrigens wurden in meiner Kindheit (vor 65 Jahren) Hunde noch mit Essensresten gefüttert. Oder mit Haferbrei. Und besonders gute Hundehalter haben sich gelegentlich für Freibankfleisch im Schlachthof angestellt.
Panini bekommt ja eine Menge Fleisch. Aber eben nicht 30 Tage im Monat. ? Essensreste und Haferbrei gibt es bei uns übrigens auch! Damit werden Fleischreste bei Bedarf gestreckt….

Ich habe bei unserem Hund von Anfang an darauf geachtet, dass er nicht nur Fleisch ist. Und wenn, nur weisses Fleisch. Unsere Beobachtung war, dass er nach rotem Fleischkonsum (Lamm) wesentlich aggressiver beim Spielen war, als nach weissem Fleisch (Hühnchen). Im grundsätzlich vegetarisch ausgerichteten Indien gibt es auf den Märkten keine grosse Auswahl, meist Huhn und Hammel.
